Precious Jackson Receives the In The Meantime Kevin Spears Humanitarian Award Medal of Honor

In The Meantime Men’s Group, Inc. will host its 13th Annual Anniversary celebration and fundraiser, “A LABOR OF LOVE,” On Sunday, December  16, 2012 and has selected Women Alive's Precious Jackson to  receive the In The Meantime Kevin Spears Humanitarian Award Medal of Honor for 2012.

The Kevin Spears Humanitarian Award is named after the late Kevin Spears, a Los Angeles Community AIDS Activist who dedicated his life to educating, empowering, and ultimately eradicating HIV/AIDS from the African American community. Each In The Meantime Men's Group recognizes a person or organization that champions a cause or human rights issue in an effort to positively impact the lives of others.

We at Women Alive thank In The Meantime Men's Group for their support and salute Precious and her continued commitment to the community!

New Changes at Women Alive


2012 welcomed some marked changes at Women Alive. Not only do we have a new office conveniently located in Compton, we also have launched a new website with sleeker graphic design, easier navigation and updated descriptions of our services.

Women Alive Needs Your Support to Receive $250,000 Grant from Chase Community Giving

Women Alive, a national treatment-focused, non-profit dedicated to advocating for women of color and their families affected by HIV/AIDS is competing with charities nationwide for grants ranging from $10,000 to $250,000 from the Chase Community Giving program. You can help ensure our success by simply voting for us through our Chase Community Giving program on Facebook.

Through the utilization of social media networks, the Chase Community Giving program has already directed more than $20 million dollars toward charities nationwide, putting the power to bring positive change across the nation into the hands of those who need it most. Due to enthusiasm, the program is being continued this year, giving hundreds of additional charities, including Women Alive the opportunity to win grants to further their mission.

"ACColades: A Salute to Women Who Inspire Us" is one of the Association of Corporate Counsel Southern California’s (ACCA-SoCAL) most popular events, and is presented annually with long-time partner Hogan Lovells, a leading global legal practice. During their 9th annual celebration on August 2, 2012 at the Museum of Flying in Santa Monica, Women Alive’s Carrie Broadus was honored for her work as a longtime health care advocate for vulnerable and underserved communities. Carrie’s professional experience in community affairs, advocacy and health planning has spanned over three decades and has enriched the lives of countless women and their families who have benefited from her support, guidance and dedication.
